This is an A5-size (210mm by 158mm) monthly planner/diary, with 12 tear-off monthly pages, plus a cover page and card backing sheet. The top edge is glue-bound, and there is a single hole to hang it from if required. The pinstripe background is light enough to write on, and shows the Moon's phase as a background to each day.

Exact times of the lunar phases (full, new and first and last quarters), any solar or lunar eclipses, and the solstices and equinoxes, are shown for each month. The movements of the sun and moon into each zodiac sign are also shown. The times given are for the U.K. time-zone, using GMT in the winter months and BST ("daylight-saving" summer time) in the summer.

The dotted line runnning across each day shows how high in the sky the Moon gets that night (or day). The value of this (measured from the celestial equator) is called the Moon's declination, and varies from about 25° South to about 25° North. (In the Southern hemisphere, of course, it's the other way up..) For example, outside the tropics, the full Moon in summertime will always be quite low in the sky, whereas a winter-time full Moon culminates high in the sky.
